Anti-PD-1 antibodies / PD-1 inhibitors have not become an established treatment class for multiple myeloma, and the strongest late-stage randomized experience with pembrolizumab in MM was negative because excess deaths were seen in the pembrolizumab-containing arms of KEYNOTE-183 and KEYNOTE-185, leading the FDA to place these studies on clinical hold in 2017. For plasmacytoma, especially solitary plasmacytoma, PD-1 blockade is not standard therapy; local treatment such as radiotherapy remains the main approach
