In the realm of multiple myeloma treatment, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are largely experimental and primarily confined to clinical trials. This approach has faced challenges due to the problematic history associated with PD-1/PD-L1 pathways. However, there is a resurgence of interest in exploring newer checkpoints and creating rational combinations, particularly when paired with therapies targeting T-cells. When it comes to solitary plasmacytoma or plasmacytoma in general, ICIs do not have a well-established role. Their use is mostly limited to anecdotal evidence or basket-type studies. The standard management for these conditions continues to rely on radiotherapy, with or without systemic myeloma therapy, following risk-adapted algorithms rather than incorporating ICIs.
