The randomized single institution clinical phase I treatment trial NCT03829111 - Ipilimumab + Nivolumab vs Clostridium butyricum CBM 588 + Ipilimumab + Nivolumab & Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) revealed that Clostridium butyricum CBM588 seems to improve the clinical outcomes for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma who are treated with nivolumab–ipilimumab. To validate this clinical observation and to better understand the mechanism of action, as well as the effects on the microbiome and immune compartments, larger studies are necessary
