HipB is a bacterial antitoxin protein that regulates the HipAB toxin-antitoxin system, best known in Escherichia coli. It binds and neutralizes High Persistence A (HipA), a toxin as a kinase that induces dormancy and antibiotic tolerance in a subset of bacterial cells called persisters.
