Regulatory B cells (Breg) can come from B-1 or B-2 lineages. They produce the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin (IL) 10. This suppresses T-helper cells. It also inhibits macrophage antigen (Ag) presentation. It reduces pro-inflammatory cytokine production. B cells have subset-dependent effects on adipose tissue inflammation. They increase inflammatory pathways in a B-2-dependent manner. They then check inflammation with the help of B-1 cells.
