Trifluridine/tipiracil (Lonsurf TM, previously TAS-102) is an oral chemotherapeutic agent currently approved to treat refractory gastric and gastroesophageal junction cancers (Trifluridine & esophageal cancer)refractory colorectal cancers [1,2]. It is comprised of two molecules: trifluridine (or 2 ′ deoxy5(trifluoromethyl)uridine or FTD), an analogue of the thymidine-based nucleoside, and tipiracil (or 5-chloro-6[(2-iminopyrrolidin-1-yl)methyl]pyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)dione monohydrochloride or TPI), with a molar ratio of 1:0.5 [1,3].
