Recent studies have highlighted the expression of integrin CD103 on approximately 4% of circulating CD8 T cells. Allo-stimulation can induce CD103 expression in about 25% of purified CD103-negative CD8 T cells, with this expression being enhanced by interleukin-4 (IL-4), IL-10, or transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β).
