Carbachol & Glaucoma

Carbachol is a medication used in the treatment of glaucoma.

It is primarily administered as an ophthalmic solution (eye drops) to decrease intraocular pressure in people with primary open-angle glaucoma with maximum ocular hypotensive actions observed several hours after administration

Carbachol is a direct-acting miotic agent that stimulates both muscarinic and nicotinic receptors, leading to effects such as miosis and increased aqueous humor outflow.

It is generally well-tolerated and has been found to be devoid of the noticeable side effects produced by other medications like pilocarpine.
