Tolmetin is FDA approved for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), but it is not approved by the EMA for use in RA within Europe. Tolmetin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that has been available in the United States for several decades for inflammatory arthritic conditions, including RA, primarily for symptoms management, not disease modification. However, it is not widely used today in clinical practice due to the availability of newer NSAIDs and disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), and it is not listed among EMA-approved products for RA management in Europe.
