The aging population has caused a rise in osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures. This increase results in a significant medical burden and reduced quality of life (2, 3).
Bone loss / Osteoporosis (OP) is characterized by low bone mass and microstructural destruction of bone tissue (4). Osteoporosis is a chronic, progressive skeletal disease in which structural bone damage - loss of bone mass and stability-reducing changes in the microarchitecture (rarefaction of the trabecular bone) - leads to fractures occurring with inadequate mechanical stress. These changes can no longer be reversed through nonpharmacologic measures alone (5).
