The chemotherapy-enhancing effect of 15% oligofructose or Inulin-type fructans (ITF) / Inulin in the basal diet of mice was investigated on a liver tumor. The administration of these prebiotics was started seven days before intraperitoneal transplantation of the liver tumor and continued until the end of the experiments. A single subtherapeutic dose of six different chemotherapeutic agents was injected intraperitoneally 48 hours after tumor transplantation. In all experiments, oligofructose or inulin significantly enhanced the therapeutic effect.
