B-2 cells originate from lymphoid progenitors in the bone marrow. They differentiate into immature B cells / B Lymphocytes. This happens through immunoglobulin (Ig) heavy and light chain rearrangement. Immature B cells leave the bone marrow. They travel to secondary lymphoid organs. Here, they undergo transitional stages. They become mature B cells. These mature B cells further differentiate. They become marginal zone B cells and follicular B cells. They participate in adaptive immunity.
