Phenotypic (constitutively) markers: CD4 +
Stimulating factors: Interleukin-12 (IL-12) , Interleukin-18 (IL-18)
Effector molecules: Interleukin-2 (IL-2) , Interferon Gamma (IFN-g) , Lymphotoxin alfa (LT alfa)
They provide help to B cells for antibody production
Principal function of CD4+ Th1 Cells is to activate macrophages through cytokines (e.g., IFN-gamma) to ingest and kill Microbes / Microorganism and tumor cells
In addition, CD4+ Th1 Cells provide cytokines for differentiation of naive CD8+ T cells into effector and memory CTL
Signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1), Signal transducer and activator of transcription 2 (STAT2), and Signal transducer and activator of transcription 4 (STAT4) are required for the generation of CD4+ Th1 Cells
In response to Interleukin-12 (IL-12 p70) and Signal transducer and activator of transcription 4 (STAT4), CD4+ Th1 Cells are generated that produce Interferon Type II (IFN Type II) / Interferon Gamma (IFN-g)
CD4+ Th1 Cells induce cell-mediated inflammatory responses against intracellular bacteria
