Among the SCFAs, only butyrate inhibited CRC organoid proliferation in a radioresponsiveness model. The combination of radiation and butyrate significantly increased radiation-induced cell death and improved treatment outcomes compared to radiation alone. The effect was observed only in organoids with FOXO3A expression.
