The prospective, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical phase II prevention trial NCT05918224 - Streptococcus salivarius K12 & Oral mucositis (Radiotherapy-induced) in patients with Head & Neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) revealed that Streptococcus salivarius K12 probiotic significantly reduced the incidence, onset, and duration of SOM (severe oral mucositis), while maintaining a good safety profile (1).
