Fusions in the neuregulin 1 (NRG1) genes are significant molecular features of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
These genetic rearrangements lead to enhanced ectopic expression of the NRG/ErbB receptor-ligand, which subsequently triggers downstream signaling pathways. There is substantial evidence suggesting that deregulation of the NRG1/ErbB3 axis plays a crucial role in the progression of NSCLC and contributes to treatment resistance.
