Etomoxir (Eto) is a small-molecule, irreversible inhibitor of carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1 (CPT1), the rate‑limiting enzyme for mitochondrial long‑chain fatty acid beta‑oxidation. It has been widely used as a pharmacological tool to shift cellular metabolism from fatty acid oxidation toward greater glucose utilization in cardiac tissue, diabetes models, immune cells, and cancer cells
