Fidaxomicin is approved by both the FDA and EMA for the treatment of Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), including recurrent cases. The drug is recommended in several guidelines as first-line therapy for Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) (initial) and Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) (recurrent) due to its reduced risk of recurrence compared to vancomycin, and is broadly used in both adults and pediatric populations
Fidaxomicin is the preferred agent for treatment of the first recurrence of CDI when available and feasible
