CD36 (Platelet glycoprotein IV or IIIb (GP IV / GP IIIb)) is an important driver of stomach cancer (metastases). It helps cancer cells absorb fat from their environment for energy production. Hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) can directly "activate" CD36 by breaking a specific bond within CD36. This switching action allows CD36 to absorb fats more effectively into cancer cells, promoting metastasis.
