Epigenetic therapy is important for Myelodysplastic-myeloproliferative neoplasms (MDS). These diseases are affected by epigenetic changes. However, the main use today is with hypomethylating agents in chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML), a subtype. It is not used widely for all MDS types. For most adults with MDS, a stem cell transplant is the only cure. Epigenetic therapy mainly controls the disease. It does not cure it.
