BRAF (serine/threonine-protein kinase B-Raf) (MUTANT V600) & Colorectal Cancer (CRC) (Mismatch Repair Deficiency (MMR-d) / DNA Mismatch Repair / Microsatellite Instability (MSI))

Individuals exhibiting a characteristic known as microsatellite instability-high (MSI-high) tend to have a longer survival rate than those lacking this feature. Despite this, it remains uncertain whether the presence of a BRAF gene mutation influences the progression of the disease or the effectiveness of new immunotherapy treatments in patients with MSI-high colorectal cancer. The study revealed that patients without the BRAF mutation tend to have a longer lifespan than those with the mutation. However, both groups showed similar responses to immunotherapy. Consequently, BRAF mutations play a significant role in determining the disease trajectory in patients with MSI-high colorectal cancer.
