While not strictly a dehydrogenase, cholesterol oxidase is closely related and catalyzes the oxidation of cholesterol to cholestenone
Cholesterol oxidase (CHOx) is a flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD)-dependent enzyme belonging to the oxidoreductase family. It catalyzes the oxidation of cholesterol to cholest-4-en-3-one and hydrogen peroxide. This enzyme is produced by a variety of bacterial species, particularly actinomycetes, and has significant commercial and clinical applications.
