Receptor Protein Tyrosine Phosphatases (RPTPs) are characterized by:

• An extracellular domain that can bind to ligands


• A transmembrane region


• One or more intracellular phosphatase domains
  The primary function of RPTPs is to remove phosphate groups from tyrosine residues on target proteins, thereby modulating signaling cascades within cells
