In the context of Linagliptin & Type 2 Diabetes (T2D), the US FDA approved linagliptin in May 2011 for improving blood glucose control in adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D). It can be used alone or with metformin, sulfonylurea, or thiazolidinediones. Linagliptin is a once-daily DPP-4 inhibitor (5 mg) and does not require dose adjustment for renal or hepatic impairment.
