Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 / E. coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) selectively colonizes colorectal adenomas after oral delivery in a mouse model prone to Colorectal Cancer (CRC) and in CRC models. In a clinical trial (ACTRN12619000210178), Colorectal Cancer (CRC) patients get either a placebo or Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 / E. coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) for two weeks before surgery. Results show more Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 / E. coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) in tumor samples than in normal tissue in treated patients.
