FDA status

On September 10, 2014, the FDA approved Bupropion + Naltrexone (Contrave TM: naltrexone 32 mg / bupropion 360 mg extended-release (NB32)). This medication is indicated for chronic weight management in the following groups:

Obese adults with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or higher

Overweight adults with a BMI between 27 and 29.9 kg/m² who have at least one weight-related comorbidity, such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, or hypertension

The treatment is intended to be used as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.
