Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) (recurrent) means >/= 2 recurrences, or those who have had one recurrence and have risk factors for further episodes, including severe and severe complicated CDI (1)
Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) recurs in 20–35% of patients after treatment of the initial infection, of which up to 60% experience further relapses, typically within 3 weeks after stopping antibiotics (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).
Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) (recurrent) has a more severe impact on quality of life than Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) (initial) (10).
