A study characterized the gut microbiota of patients with Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI) and found that a reduced abundance of Bacteroidaceae was associated with a poor CDI prognosis, severe diarrhea, and a high incidence of recurrence. This reduction was linked to a weakened host immune system and previous aggressive antibiotic therapy
The abundance of Bacteroidaceae in the gut microbiota may play a significant role in the development and prognosis of CDI.
