Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) protein

Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) protein is a polytopic transmembrane protein that contains a sterol-sensing domain. It is primarily expressed in two locations:

• The apical membrane of enterocytes in the small intestine


• The canalicular membrane of hepatocytes in the liver
