HMG-CoA reductase (HMGCR) Inhibitors (Statins) & Hypercholesterolemia (HChol)

HMG-CoA reductase (HMGCR) Inhibitors (Statins) are sometimes very good at lowering the amount of Low-Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol (LDL-C) that increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. However, many people experience less benefit, and some experience no benefit at all. In a 2016 study, LDL levels fell by 50% or more in 46% of people treated with the drug rosuvastatin. However, in 43% the reduction was less than 50%, and in 11% the reduction was not reduced at all or was even increased.
