Lipopolysaccharide transport protein D (LptD) is an essential outer membrane protein in Gram-negative bacteria that mediates the final step of transporting lipopolysaccharide (LPS) to the outer leaflet of the outer membrane. LptD forms a complex with the lipoprotein LptE, and together, this LptD/E complex facilitates the insertion of LPS into the membrane, which is crucial for maintaining the barrier function and survival of Gram-negative bacteria
