ILCs are similar to T cells (CD4 +helper T (Th) cells and CD8 +cytotoxic T (Tc) cells), although they lack antigen-specific receptors. ILCs consist of five subgroups - ILC1, ILC2, ILC3, Lymphoid Tissue Inducer (LTi-like) cells, and Natural Killer (NK) cells defined mainly by the intrinsic transcription factors expressed and the cytokines produced by each subgroup.
